I'm not sure what the Sysop-dom is like right now but I know that when we were at the old Blair, it came with a feeling of elitism. We were the only ones who were allowed to go into the "Sysops Only" area where the X-terms, goober, and Binx were housed. The half days during freshman and sophomore year playing XTank in the back of the room while others toiled awayon Pascal projects. Access to the loft was another nice thing thanks to the comfortable couch. We had the power to do whatever we wanted to Binx and the computer lab in general, but we also had the responsibility and trust that went with it. Upon graduating from Blair and going to college and into the work force, I found that most high school would never have been that trusting of students to run things. Another memory I have revolves around Lunch time. Half the time I would go outside during lunch and play Ultimate Frisbee with Doherty, Brendan, Luke, and some other the other sysops, but other times I would hang around the lab doing voluntary work or finishing up a project. And on many occations I would have brough pizza with me for lunch. I hated cold pizza but Mr. Hammond wouldn't let me use the sacred microwave to heat it up. Instead I would just turn on one of the X-Term monitors in the morning so that by the time lunch came around it was nice and hot. Then I'd put my pizza in a bag on top of the monitor, and the heat/radiation would cook it until the cheese was slightly melted. Ahh... In the computer lab, improvisations and kludges reigned supreme.
