for Materials Science is found on the web.
Synthethic Materials
Modern Plastics is is a monthly
magazine that also runs a very well-designed web page, including an
archive of past articles. They also have a page of
links, some useful, some not so useful.
BASF is a worldwide
corporation of chemical companies, most of which work with synthetic
materials. The site includes a nice archive of news from the past few
years.
SPI, or the Society of the
Plastics Industry posts newsletters, techinical information, government
affairs, and more. They also have an excellent, categorized links page.
Dupont provides recent news relating
to some of their products. There is also a useful search engine which can
sometime provide specific information on a specialized material.
SPE, the Society of Plastics
Engineers, publishes this
magazine online. You have
to be a member for most of the site, but there's still some useful
information.
3M is an excellent site with a useful
search engine which I thought was on the above listed Dupont page.
Rubber and
Plastics News provides coverage of daily news events in the industry,
as well as information on new products, editorials, and links. They have
an archive of past news events as well.
ANSI, the American National
Standards Institute, maintains this site. It contains recent news and
events, information about standards, a library and more.
Toxic Materials
The EPA has tons of information on
toxic materials and current clean up efforts.
Metals
The Virtual Metallography
Lab is here. Visit it. Or don't. It has information on new, top-of
the line equipment for you and your metal working chums.
